Tata Motors is wooing the Aussies with a Xenon based Tuff Truck concept. Well, this concept is the build up to the launch of the Tata Xenon pick up truck, a comeback vehicle for Tata Motors in the Australian car market, or rather should we say Ute market. The Tata Xenon pick up truck will be launched in Australia in October this year and before that happens, Tata Motors is building up some buzz with the Tuff Truck concept. The Tuff Truck concept is a kitted out version of the Xenon, much like the Safari Storme’s recently launched Explorer Edition.

It’s a shame that Tata Motors doesn’t launch something like the Tuff Truck in India, for the Xenon in Tuff Truck form is a perfect boy toy, just enough to give the Thars and Scorpio Getaways of this world a complex. Coming to the actual Xenon that will go on sale in Australia soon, the pick up truck will use the 2.2 liter DICOR turbo diesel engine. For the Aussies, Tata Motors has given this engine a nice massage and hence, the engine will now output a higher 148 Bhp and 320 Nm. The gearbox will be a 5 speed manual unit.

Both 4X2 and 4X4 versions of the Xenon will be sold in Australia, which will get these options on three variants each, cab chassis , single cab and crew cab. The pick up truck will come with twin airbags and ABS+EBD, with ESP being a notable addition on the export version. Tata Motors plans to give the likes of the Mahindra Pik Up (Scorpio based) and the Great Wall X240 a good fight in the Aussie Ute market. The pick up truck will be built at Pimpri and shipped out to Australia as a CBU. The Xenon pick up truck will be distributed in Australia by Fusion Automotive, through 13 dealers.
