Facelifted 2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV to be launched on the 8th of February! EDIT: Image gallery updated!

Come the 8th of February, 2012, Mahindra will unwrap the facelifted Xylo MPV, in what will be the Indian car and utility vehicle major’s first launch for 2012. The facelifted Mahindra Xylo comes at a time when competition in the Indian MPV market is all set to scale an all time peak with no less than 5 MPVs ready to be launched in the coming months of the year. The Mahindra Xylo MPV is more of a facelifted model than an all new model though, designed mainly to keep the Xylo updated and current in the face of increasing competition.

Interestingly enough, the facelifted Xylo comes weeks after Toyota launched the Innova facelift at the 2012 Auto Expo, an event at which Mahindra chose to play low key by not showcasing their hottest launches of the year. The Mahindra Xylo facelift represents better visual design from Mahindra design department, which seems to be improving with every passing launch. The facelifted Mahindra Xylo MPV has an all new front end, replete with new headlamps, a new grille, a new bonnet and new bumpers. The rear too is expected to get new tail lamps to go with the overall redesign.

Interiors might be spruced up a bit with a feature or two added. While the Xylo is currently available with 2 turbodiesel engines, a 2.5 Liter mEagle common rail unit and a 2.5 liter mDi direct injection unit, it remains to be seen whether the Xylo gets more power and torque with the latest facelift. While the Scorpio’s 120 Bhp-280 Nm 2.2 liter mHawk engine will be a good upgrade to the Xylo, it remains to be seen whether Mahindra will actually tinker beneath the bonnet. While there have been rumors of a Xylo with a 4X4version being readied up for a launch, we’ll find out how much truth there is to the rumors on the 8th of February.

    The existing Mdi & Meagle engines are of 2.5lt displacement not 2.2
