Facelifted 2012 Suzuki Splash(Maruti Ritz in India) launched in UK

After unveiling the Suzuki Splash hatchback, a.k.a. the Maruti Ritz in India, at Europe, the Japanese auto brand has launched the Splash in the United Kingdom. The facelifted 2012 model of the car features a mid career refresh that brings a host of minor changes both on the exteriors as well as the interiors. This very facelifted hatchback has been spotted testing on Indian roads and a launch in India is anticipated in the coming months. The car comes in petrol-only mode for the UK market with a choice of 2 K-Series petrol engines.

2012 Maruti Suzuki Ritz Facelift

A 1 Liter and 1.2 Liter K-Series engine does duty in the UK spec Ritz. For the Indian market though, the Ritz will also get a diesel engine in addition to the bigger of the petrol engine. The diesel engine in question will be a reworked 1.3 Liter fiat Multijet turbo diesel unit, the same one that the likes of the Swift and Dzire feature. While the power and torque figures are expected to remain unchanged at 75 Bhp-190 Nm, the engine is expected to be tuned for better fuel economy. Coming to the petrol engine, the 1.2 K-Series engine will get variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust valves, to produce more power.

The 1.2 Liter engine is expected to be rated at about 90 Bhp, the same output as that on the all new Swift and the new Dzire. The facelifted Ritz gets a new front end, replete with a new front bumper, a new bonnet and a new grille design. On the rear, the bumpers see restyling. The new bumpers has meant that the Ritz is now longer by about 60mm, with its length measuring about 3.775 Meters. The car also gets a new color scheme in the form of the Sparkling Blue metallic shade. On the inside of the car, the facelifted Ritz gets different fabrics for the seat and door claddings.

The facelifted 2012 Ritz gets both airbags as well as ABS+EBD on select variants as the optional safety equipment. The possibility of the facelifted 2012 Ritz being launched in the coming months is quite high as Maruti dealers are giving discounts on even the diesel variants of the car from the last few weeks. Gauging by that, a facelifted model might be just around the corner. In the UK, the facelifted Splash sells at the same price as that of the outgoing model. So expect the facelifted Ritz to also be available with a minimal/no price hike.
