This is how the facelifted Fiat Grande Punto hatchback could look like!

Fiat has began selling the 2012 variant of the Grande Punto hatchback in the European market, and from what we’re seeing, the Punto gets a makeover in the aesthetics department. While India got the 2012 Grande Punto with a minor facelift a month ago with increased ground clearance being one major feature of the facelift, the 2012 Punto launched in Europe is what the next facelift of the Indian Punto could get in the next year or so. The 2012 European version of the Grande Punto gets a new front end with a new bumper and grille. The turn indicators are now positioned on the front bumper of the car.

The front end of the 2012 Punto also gets a repositioned badge. The makeover continues to the rear, where the Punto gets new tail lamps and a new bumper. The rear is now more curvier than ever before with the Punto badging moving to the middle of the rear hatch lid. New 15 inch alloy wheels complete the external makeover of the 2012 Punto. On the inside, Fiat has changed the fabric upholstery of the seat to make the interiors fresher. These stylistic changes were first showcased by Fiat at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

An important addition on the 2012 Punto is the 85 Bhp-145 Nm Twin Air turbo petrol engine. This 875cc twin cylinder engine improves fuel economy on the Punto by quite a bit and will be a very good addition to Fiat’s Indian line up as and when they decide to launch the new Punto with this engine. The other engine is the tried and tested 1.3 Multijet2 diesel unit producing 90 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. This engine already does duty in the Indian Punto 90HP variant.
