Ferrari 458 Spider official video out!
Ferrari 458 Spider
Ferrari unveiled the new convertible version of the 458 Italia at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show. The new Ferrari called the 458 Spider comes with roof that can be folded away neatly at the back. Ferrari engineers have worked feverishly over the roof mechanism. The ultra-complex mechanism allows the roof to fold away much like the roof on the Ferrari Super America. The brains at Ferrari have also managed to keep the weight of the car low which amounts to negligible loss in performance.
Ferrari has now released its official video featuring the new Ferrari 458 Spider in all its glory. Check out the video to see Ferrari test drivers smoke their tires as they drift the car along twisty corners of a closed public road. The 458 Spider is the world’s first mid-rear engined berlinetta equipped with a retractable hard top. The predecessor to this car, the F430 had to do with a soft top.
As we all know, the 458 Spider is powered by 4.5 litre all Italian V8 with 425kW of maximum power coming at 9000 rpm! and 398 lb-ft of torque at 6000 rpm. Power goes to the rear wheels via a 7 speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox which shift faster than you can blink. All the while, the E-Differential works overtime to keep the wheels spinning. The F1-Trac traction control system can be controlled via what Ferrari like to call ‘Manettino’.
Also, if you are a fan of the Maranello beauties then I would also suggest you to visit the Ferrari 458 Spider website. They have even recorded the sound the car makes when revved hard. Now, how Italian is that? Ferraris have always been special. Some were known for being nervous at the limit while others were just a thing of beauty. The Ferrari 458 Spider is one of the best looking scarlet cars ever!
