Fiat Linea T-Jet Launch: Fiat pulls off more than one surprise at 2010 Auto Expo
Fiat Linea Absolute Dualogic
Fiat India pulled off a couple of very neat surprises at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo and no we aren’t complaining. The eagerly awaited, thrillingly sexy Fiat Linea T-Jet was finally unveiled at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo to a rapturous audience. Regular visitors to Indian Cars Bikes might remember that we were one of the first blogs to report the imminent launch of the T-Jet Linea in India and as usual, we seem to have got the news spot on. The sexy Fiat Linea’s cornerstone has now shifted away from it’s stunningly hot looks and solid European build quality to the motor beneath it’s hood. The slightly detuned 1368cc, 16 valve turbocharged petrol engine churns out all of 110 Bhp at 5000rpm.

Fiat Linea T-Jet Turbo Petrol Engine
The biggest revelation of the T-Jet engine is not the creamy power but the 200 Nm of raw torque or twisting force that it belts out at a low 2500rpm. This torque will certainly plaster wide grins on petrolheads’ faces as it tag teams with the turbo to deliver that irresistible surge every time they ride the hugely addictive torque wave. All this power and torque will be transmitted to the Linea T-Jet’s rear wheels through a 5-speed, Dualogic semi-automatic gearbox.
This will give the Fiat Linea stonking performance with a sub ten second nought to hundred time and a top speed close to two hundred mark on the speedo. Move over the All New Honda City people, the Fiat Linea T-Jet is now here, for INR 9.4 Lakhs Ex-Showroom, Delhi.

Fiat Grande Punto MJD Sports
While the T-Jet Linea was an expected launch, we frankly had no clue that the Fiat Grande Punto too would get a major bump in power till late yesterday afternoon. You can read about the Grande Punto Sports MJD right here on IndianCarsBikes.in
The Fiat Grande Punto also gets a 1.2 liter FIRE Engine to help it take on the Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Ritz. In addition to this power plant, the Fiat Grande Punto goes green with a flex fuel engine powered by both petrol and CNG.

Fiat Grande Punto Flex Fuel CNG
With a mainstream car manufacturer like Fiat India going ahead and launching flex fuel engines, it seems that the Indian car market is finally waking up to flex fuel engines. Expect more manufacturers to follow suit and help reduce the greenhouse emissions that could otherwise send us the way the dinosaurs did. All this is essentially what Fiat India showcased at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo.
While we were eagerly waiting for the unveiling of 2010 Fiat Palio, Fiat India seem to have skipped that one for the time being although we can’t rule out the 2010 Fiat Palio in the near future. Stick around for more buzz on the Indian auto scene.
