All new Ford cars in India to be the latest global models, based on the One Ford philosophy!

While Ford will continue to suitably Indianize cars to suit Indian conditions and market requirements, the American car brand will introduce only global car models for the Indian car market. In the run up to the launch of the all new Fiesta last year, Ford revealed plans of launching 7 new car models in India by 2015. While the all new Fiesta was the first of the 7 cars and a global model, the second car will be the EcoSport crossover and like the all new Fiesta, the EcoSport too will be a global model that will be sold across many countries.

“One Ford” is Ford’s global philosophy in which the brand will launch global cars in all its markets, tailoring them to suit local preferences and market conditions. The “One Ford” global philosophy will mean that all Ford cars sold in India will be the latest ones and not previous generation models as has been the case with Ford cars of the past. Both the Figo and the Fiesta are previous generation models which was launched in India, many years after its global launch.Despite being a generation older, both these cars have been successes for Ford due to solid engineering, good build and superb road manners.

That Ford is keen on following the “One Ford” philosophy in India, indicates the changing preferences in Indian car buyers, who now want the latest cars close on the heels of global launches. This new trend indicates the maturing of the Indian car market and the car buyer, as many international car makers are now launching their products in India first, before any other global market. In fact, the Ford EcoSport was one such global product which was unveiled in India as a part of its global premiere. The Ford EcoSport is anticipated to be launched by the end of 2012.

The big advantage of India getting global cars will be the fact that the technology these cars come packing with will be the very latest that Ford will have to offer. One such example is the class leading functions on the all new Fiesta sedan like the voice control technology, pull drift compensation electric steering and the cruise control functions.
