2011 Ford Figo 1.6/Automatic: What would do want?

The 1,600cc-100 Bhp Ford Duratec Petrol engine would be absolutely yummy in the Figo’s chassis and so we’ve said time and again. That, might just happen as Ford India has been spotted testing a Figo somewhere in the streets of Chennai. This car, as our friends at IndianAutosBlog speculate, could either be the Ford Figo 1.6 or the Ford Figo Automatic.

We, however, would go with the former choice as that makes so much more sense given the fact that Ford India does export Ford Figo 1.6s to various countries of the world. Also, as the 2011 Fiesta will make an appearance shortly, Ford India could just use the capacity in it’s engine plant to continue the production of the 1.6 Liter, super responsive petrol Duratec engine, which is doing duty in the current Ford Fiesta.

Last but not the least, given the segment that buys Automatic small cars in India, read the elderly and women, the Ford Figo 1.2 Automatic would be a little too thirsty to find many takers. That’s yet another reason for Ford to plonk in the rorty 1.6 Duratec engine into the Figo’s engine bay and say, Go Figo! Keep an eye out on this space!
