Ford Figo comprehensive facelift to arrive in 2014!
A lot of people seem to be expecting a facelift of Ford’s super popular hatchback, the Figo during the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. However, our sources tell us that Ford India has no plans to launch any facelift of the Ford Figo in the near future. The Ford Figo is one hatchback that still makes a lot of sense for the driving enthusiast, for it is one car that still comes with a brilliant hydraulic steering in a superbly weighted chassis that is a delight to drive around twisted sections of tarmac.
Given that the Ford Figo Hatchback is indeed the previous generation Fiesta, the build quality too is quite reassuring along with the way the suspension of the Figo tackles bad roads. The responsive 1.4 Liter TDCI diesel engine of the Figo is our pick if you’re in the market for a spacious driver’s hatch as running and maintenance costs too are comparable to the market leader, the Maruti Swift, thus pricking the bubble that Ford cars are expensive to own and run.
However, there are a few things that Ford should include in the comprehensive facelift of the Figo scheduled to happen in 2014. Firstly, can we please have the 1 Liter EcoBoost engine, Ford? The Ford Figo Petrol’s 1.2 Liter Duratec engine is a letdown when it comes to performance and the Figo’s chassis which can handle a lot more power than 70 something Bhp begs for a more responsive engine under the hood.
Similarly, the diesel engine, though inherently drivable can do with some more power at the top end of the rev range as it runs out of breath at the top. The interior plastics too are nothing to write home about and perhaps this is one area that Ford India would want to address in the Figo facelift. So there, this is our wishlist for the Ford Figo’s facelift, which is still a very long way away in 2014.

Its still a long away. 3 Years down the line, who knows what all will be competing with Ford Figo at that time.
Yes, but a lot of people seem to think that the Ford Figo is due for a facelift at the Auto Expo. Hence, this post is to dispel that myth!
