Ford India adds Titanium variant to the Fiesta Classic sedan, in an ICB Exclusive
Ford India has added a Titanium trim to the Fiesta Classic sedan, to be positioned as the top end variant. Befitting the Titanium moniker, which is used on the top end variants of Ford cars in India, the Fiesta Classic gets a host of new features. Most of the features are borrowed from Ford India’s best selling car model, the Figo hatchback. What this could also result in, is that the cost of the Titanium model could actually be lesser than the current top end SXI variant of the Fiesta Classic. This move comes on the back of the heavy parts sharing with the Figo, which has the potential of making the top end Fiesta cheaper than ever before.
Here is the list of the key new features on the Fiesta Classic Titanium trim,
* Dual tone beige and black interiors
* Chromed front grille
* Audio unit with integrated bluetooth and ipod connectivity
* Speed sensing volume control for audio
* Rear chrome boot handle
* Chromed wing mirrors with integrated indicators
* Chromed body side mouldings
* Programmable key(same as Figo)
* New alloy wheel design
* Activation hazard warning lights during panic braking
* Could be priced about INR 50,000 lesser than current Fiesta due to extensive parts sharing with the Figo
The Fiesta Classic is available with two engines, the 1.6 Liter 100 Bhp Duratec petrol engine and the 1.4 Liter, 68 Bhp-160 Nm Duratorq turbo diesel engine. Transmission is a five speed manual unit. The Fiesta is a solidly built car that comes with an excellent ride and handling. This endearing feature of the Fiesta makes it an enthusiasts delight despite the dated looks of the car, which is clearly a generation behind, more so, given the fact that the all new Fiesta sedan is also available in the Indian car market.
Ford India’s move to give the Fiesta Classic a Titanium trim could have to do with the all new Fiesta sedan struggling to sell, due to the initial pricing botch up by the car maker. The Fiesta Classic still continues to sell decently. That said, the all new Fiesta, especially the diesel version, is a true enthusiast’s delight, with a superb ride and handling package backed by a responsive yet frugal 1.5 Liter TDCI turbo diesel engine. The all new Fiesta comes with many class leading features like cruise control, voice control and pull drift steering assist.
