The Ford Mondeo/Fusion sedan might be launched in India during 2013!
Ford is gunning for the bet selling Toyota Camry in the American market, with the latest Fusion sedan, which was unveiled at this year’s Detroit Motor Show. For Europe and other markets, the Fusion will be called the Mondeo. India is one market that Ford used to sell the Mondeo in, although the car sold in India was a couple of generations old. Back then, the Mondeo was one of the best driver’s cars in India with superlative engine performance and handling. Ford India now has a brand new tack for the Indian market, and this involves launching only global Ford car models in the country, in line with the One Ford philosophy.
Ford India could launch the Mondeo in the Indian market during 2013. The Ford Mondeo that will be launched in India is expected to be the European version and one which will show a few stylistic differences when compared to the American model. Also, the European Ford Mondeo will feature diesel engine options, an engine that will be critical for success in India, a market where diesel engined luxury cars have been ruling the hustings for quite some time now. The Mondeo will come with a range of 1.6 liter and 2 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol engines, with the emphasis on higher fuel economy and lower tail emissions.
Along with these two benefits, the EcoBoost turbo petrol engines will use direct injection, variable valve timing in addition to turbo charging to deliver class leading performance. The Mondeo that will sell in the American market as the Fusion is also expected to get hybrid versions later this year. The Mondeo could be brought into India as a completely built unit although producing this car in India through CKD kits is what will help Ford price it competitively. The Mondeo will take on the likes of Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Superb and Hyundai Sonata Fluidic. You can read more about this Mondeo right here.

Ford India should also bring in the most iconic FORD model ever, the Ford Shelby GT500 and also the Ford Mustang to boost the brand image of the company in India. Also it should launch other cars like the Ford Taurus, Ford Focus, Ford Ka, Ford Kuga etc besides the Ford Fusion to make Ford India to really be a part in the scheme of things of Global Ford.
