For once, we have something that isn’t downright fugly from DC Design, the Indian automobile design firm run by former automobile journalist turned automobile designer, Mr Dilip Chhabria. Alright, that’s for starters. DC Design has come up with a modified Renault Duster, which incidentally happens to be the hottest selling SUV in the Indian car market. Given that we have only a teaser to base our opinion upon, we’ll reserve our judgement until the full car is revealed. From the teaser, the DC Design Duster seems to have drawn some inspiration from the Duster D-Cross concept and this is evident especially in the way in which the front end of the car looks.
Instead of conventional headlamps, new front grille, the DC Design Duster has an array of LED lamps and the fog lamps get new housings to hold 4 fog lamps instead of two. Knowing DC Design, the modified Duster is expected to come with heavily revamped interiors as well. It remains unclear whether the DC Design Duster’s engine has been modified to output more power and torque. Expect more images and details of the DC Design based Duster to surface shortly. Meanwhile, the stock versions of the Renault Duster sold in India come with two engines, a 1.6 Liter petrol motor and a 1.5 Liter K9K turbo diesel engine.
While the 1.6 Liter petrol motor outputs 100 Bhp of peak power, the 1.5 K9K motor comes in 85 Bhp-200 Nm and 110 Bhp-240 Nm states of tune. Meanwhile, Renault India is expected to launch the Duster SUV in 4X4 guise in the coming months. The Renault Duster 4X4 is expected to be priced about a lakh rupees more than the front wheel drive version. We expect the Duster 4X4 variant to be available with the 110 PS state of tune of the 1.5 Liter K9K motor. Renault India already exports the right hand drive version of the Duster 4X4 to the United Kingdom.
