Here are details of the India-spec Honda CR-V; Launch on 12th February 2013
Honda Cars India will launch the 2013 CR-V crossover in India on the 12th of February. This crossover will be assembled in India through completely knocked down(CKD) kit route. The 2013 Honda CR-V that will be launched in India will be sold with two petrol engine options, a 2 Liter and a 2.4 Liter unit. Honda has no plans of selling a diesel powered CR-V in India for the time being even though the car maker offers the Euro-spec CR-V with not one but two turbo diesel engine options in the form of the 1.6 Liter i-DTEC and the 2.2 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engines.
The 2013 Honda CR-V sold in India will come with both manual and automatic transmission options. While the 2 Liter petrol engine outputting 150 Bhp gets a 6 speed manual as standard and a 5 speed automatic gearbox as an option, the 2.4 Liter petrol engined variant will be available only with the 5 speed automatic gearbox and paddle shifters. While the 2 Liter petrol engined variants will be sold in front wheel guise, the more powerful 2.4 Liter-185 Bhp engined model gets the all wheel drive mode as standard. Meanwhile, here are the various features that the India-spec CR-V comes with,

The CR-V is a five seat crossover that is renowned for its car like ride and handling. This is a major selling point of the CR-V, an area where it outdoes other similarly priced SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Also, the 5 seat layout means that the CR-V is a much smaller crossover than the luxury SUV pack, giving the CR-V better manouverability in the city. The base variant of the crossover is expected to be priced somewhere near the INR 20 lakh mark. At this price, the CR-V might not set sales charts on fire. However the crossover could be a steady seller what with the diesel prices in India set to touch the INR 60 mark by the end of 2013.
