Honda showed us the Vezel compact SUV at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. If you’re wondering when the SUV will land in India, we’re sorry, the launch won’t happen at least until 2015 as Honda has 3 big launches to handle until then. Yes, the City, Mobilio and Jazz are the 3 big car launches Honda will have to deal with next year. Maybe, we’ll get a glimpse of the Vezel at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Until the Vezel comes to India, we’ll fill you in with every detail around this SUV. For now, take a look at the recently released TVC of the Vezel.
2015 Honda Vezel Crossover
The Vezel will use the 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine for its entry level models. A turbo charged engine could also be a part of the Vezel line up for specific markets like the United States, which will get the SUV next year. A 1.6 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine will go into the Vezel for Europe. The European version of the Vezel might get style tweaks, much like what Honda has done with the CR-V by having separate styling for US and European markets. Manual and automatic gearboxes will be offered on the SUV, which comes in front wheel drive and all wheel drive versions.
2015 Honda Vezel Crossover Rear
However, the hybrid engine and 7 speed dual clutch automatic combination will not leave Japanese shores. If Honda brings this compact SUV to India, expect it to be offered with a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine. In markets abroad, the Vezel will be Honda’s entry level SUV, sitting under the CR-V crossover. The Vezel’s competitors will include the Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster. The Vezel is based on the 214 Honda Jazz platform. The other car to be based on the 2014 Jazz platform are: Jazz hatchback, City sedan and upcoming Freed MPV.
