Hyundai Elantra/Avante Fluidic spotted testing in India!

In what could be Hyundai India’s next big launch, the Hyundai Elantra/Avante Fluidic has been spotted testing in Delhi, India. Earlier this year, we brought you a report stating that the Hyundai Elanta/Avante Sedan is a definite possibility for the Indian market and it was just a matter of time before Hyundai India launched it in the Indian market. With the emergence of the spy shots of heavily camouflaged test Elantras doing the rounds in India, an Indian launch looks all the more certain in the coming months.

Though a very good car, the erstwhile Hyundai Elantra Sedan did not do well in India as Hyundai India struggled to shed its small car maker image. The Fluidic design philosophy has infused new life into the Hyundai’s car range with car sales picking up across the globe for Hyundai. Similarly, the Hyundai Elantra Fluidic, which is also known as the Avante is expected to be a much better seller than the erstwhile version, just like the Verna Fluidic, which has sold very briskly when compared to the older model, to emerge as the segment leader.

As we stated earlier, the Hyundai Elantra Fluidic, which is available with a 1.6 Liter petrol gasoline direct injection(GDI) engine in markets abroad could also feature a diesel engine for the Indian market. While the petrol engine could be the 1.6 Liter engine minus the GDI technology , generating 140 Bhp, the diesel engine is expected to be a higher power, 140 Bhp version of the 1.6 Liter CRDI Gamma engine that the Verna Fluidic features. The Hyundai Elantra Fluidic wll sit above the Hyundai Verna Fluidic in terms of positioning and will aim squarely for the likes of the Chevrolet Cruze and the Toyota Corolla Altis.
