Hyundai has launched the Hyundai i10 BlueDrive LPG small car in two variants, Era and Magna. The Era is priced at INR 4.16 Laks, ex-showroom Delhi while the Magna is priced at INR 4.3 Lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The car is equipped with a 34 liter LPG tank as a factory fitted option.  Bookings open today with deliveries slated to happen in the next few weeks. So, that is latest fuel sipper from Hyundai India,  the Hyundai i10 LPG, which Hyundai India hopes will make up for the lack of a diesel engine in the Hyundai i10′s model line up.

The Hyundai i10 BlueDrive LPG variant is more expensive than the petrol variant by INR 27 thousand, which is a reasonable amount of money to pay for the cheaper fuel option, LPG, on offer. And yes, along with LPG as a fuel option, the Hyundai Hyundai i10 BlueDrive LPG also retains petrol as a fuel option of choice with a 35 liter petrol tank as standard. Toggling between these two fuels is an easy affair with a dashboard mounted switch which means that you can switch between LPG and petrol fuel modes effortlessly.

This crucial feature also means that the i10 LPG can be a highway worthy car where LPG fuel stations might not be available as easily as a petrol fuel station. The Hyundai i10 BlueDrive LPG comes with a toroidal fuel tank design which means that the already small boot isn’t made much smaller by the LPG tank. So minimum space occupied by the LPG tank makes the i10′s LPG’s boot much more usable that it would have been with a conventional fuel tank. The other outstanding feature on the i10 is the alternator management system(AMS) which essentially regulates charging of the battery while acceleration and deceleration .

In what is somewhat similar to brake energy regeneration, through the alternator management system(AMS), the i10′s battery get recharged optimally during acceleration and deceleration, thus minimizing the load on the alternator and in turn increasing fuel economy by a wee bit. Although this feature won’t increase fuel economy by a great deal, Hyundai India needs to be commended for adding this feature to what is essentially a budget family hatchback. In the coming times, expect more cars to feature this fuel conserving and battery life extending technology.

So, that essentially is the new Hyundai i10 BlueDrive LPG for you, a frugal car that might just be a worthy diesel car alternative for you.
