Hyundai To Launch 800cc Small car for India in 2011-2012

Seemingly, there is no end to the slew of hatchback launches car manufacturers are planning for India.

Hyundai has just announced news of it developing a 800cc small car for India. This car which is scheduled to hit Indian roads sometime in the latter half 2011 will gun for the Nano’s jugular as it is expected to be priced at about INR 2 Lakh.

In addition to this, Hyundai also is planning to export the low cost small car to other emerging markets.

Currently, Hyundai engineers in South Korea are feverishly working away to come up with the design for the yet to be named 800cc small car. What remains to be seen is whether Hyundai can manage to hold on to the extremely low price tag of INR 2 Lakh when it does manage to launch this small car in 2011.

So, the Tata Nano, prices of which are already expected to go up, will have some serious competition from Hyundai, which is well known for it’s stellar reliability and after sales service in India. Keep an eye on this space.
