The Hyundai Sonata was one car that packed in plenty of luxury at a killer price point. But in India, the Korean badge on the bonnet never really let it hit paydirt as Indian car buyers chose to overlook this car for other luxo-barges from the Japanese and European marques like Honda, Skoda and Toyota.

Never one to give up, Hyundai India wants to try the Sonata yet again at the Indian car market and hence, it’s planning to bring in the 2011 version sometime later this year. Of course, Hyundai being Hyundai will endow the Sonata with plenty of pizzaz for it to take on the European/Japanese competition. So, what does the 2011 Hyundai Sonata bring to the table?
For starters, you have a styling job that is a major departure from the existing Hyundai Sonata which downright looks staid compared to this new, refreshed version. With the new style job, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata looks much more curvier and a wee bit like the Toyota Camry.
2011 Hyundai Sonata's Interiors
Coming to the heart of the matter, the engine, you get a 2.4-litre, 198bhp four-cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet. This, mated to a 6 speed slush box should endow the Sonata with brisk, if not blistering performance. Interiors too get a major redesign with the Honda Accord as the benchmark.
Hyundai India will bring in this D segment luxury car to Indian shores sometime later this year and as usual, expect it to be priced very competitively at a figure that will undercut the competition by quite a margin. Not a bad looking car. Here’s a bet though, if the car in the pics hits Indian roads, I will listen to an entire CD of Mariah Carey in one go.

hey i bought it 3 months back and driving it in dubai….. its awsome…. it looks like a lexus or benz…. silent and smooth….. audio system is also awsome … its infinity powered 6 speaker system…….. really far better than camry….. i was driving camry last year……..
I am using an embera and would look forward for the new sonata launch. This time around the sonata has all the pre requisites to be a winner.
Hyundai should get its marketing/publicity strategy right for the new sonata. my ownership with embera is 4 years and I still find people asking woh! the car looks amazing ‘ When was this version of sonata launched ?’ Not many people in india know beyond Sonata gold.

hyundai has come long way .nice car ,smooth ride .very good milage . i did test drive this car in u.s. but ended up getting camryhybrid instead,since the hybrid version of this car yet to be lunched. but i still own 2005 sonata gold in india.still rides good. i might consider changing my car if they lunch this in india.
