The F-Type sportscar will be rear wheel driven with the 8 speed automatic transmission that most Jaguar cars now feature, as standard. The 3 liter V6, supercharged engine will be available in two states of tune, 335 Bhp and 375 Bhp while the 5 Liter, V8 supercharged engine will power the top end version and is expected to put out about 450 Bhp, which will ensure that the F-Type sits under the XKR line of sportscars. The engine will get a start-stop system as standard to save fuel under city traffic conditions. The sportcar will feature a full aluminum monocoque chassis to keep weight low.

The low weight is expected to endow the F-Type sportscar with some very spirited performance, with a top speed touted to be about 270 Kph with a sub-5 second 0-100 Kph sprint. With the F-Type sportscar, Jaguar will target the likes of the Porsche Cayman and the Mercedes Benz SL. Under the ownership of Tata Motors, Jaguar-Land Rover has been infused with a war chest of over a  billion US dollars, for new product development. This cash infusion has meant that Jaguar can now come up with a range of products to rival the Teuton trio of Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz.
