An all electric Nissan NV200 is expected to rid New York’s air of harmful gasses and has been in the making for a long time. However, it is not clear as to when taxi cab’s powered solely by electricity will start roaming the streets of one the most crowded metropolis’ on the planet. That said, the new e-NV200 uses a 80kW AC synchronous motor generating 280 Nm of torque and a lithium-ion battery pack. The powertrain is the same found on the Nissan Leaf hatchback. The Nissan e-NV200 combines the space of an MPV and the zero-emissions of an electric car. The versatile interior and acres of space makes the e-NV200 a perfect city taxi. The interior is tailored to suit the eco-friendly theme of the car and is inspired by the Nissan Leaf. All said, the concept of an electric MPV for the city does seem quite interesting and could be the answer to future transport solutions for megacities like New York, London, Tokyo, Mumbai etc.
