The Indian 2012 BMW F10 525D might get the smaller 2 liter turbo diesel engine!

The Indian version of 2012 BMW F10 525D might get a smaller engine, albeit with the fuel efficiency going up by a whopping 21%. The 2012 version of the F10 BMW 525D sedan could get the 1,995cc four pot turbo diesel engine, that is used in the likes of the 520D, the 320D and the BMW X1. This engine on the 2012 5 series could however be in a higher state of tune, producing 225 Bhp of peak power and 450 Nm of peak torque. That is 20 horses extra and 20 Nm of additional torque at play compared to the figures produced by the 3 liter engine that the 525D is currently sold with.

This information is courtesy a Team-Bhpian going by the handle S350L-E240, whose news alerts in the past have proven to be quite reliable to say the least. According to him, the 2012 BMW 525D model might also get a raft of changes as follows,

* Drive dynamic control even in basic models also
* Auto start stop function
* Eco mode
* A new rear seat design, according to them it improves on comfort.
* Dynamic experience control.
* 3 liter turbo diesel engine of the 530d is now updated to 560nm, a full 20 Nm higher than the current 530D.
* New alloy wheel design for 520i

So, it clearly seems that BMW is all set to give its F10 5 series models, which have been around for 2 years now, a mid career facelift to keep the model current when compared to the competition. Many of these changes, for instance like the redesigned rear seat, seem to be prompted by customer feedback.  The flagship diesel variant of the F10 5 Series, the BMW 530D gets some more  power and torque making an already stonker of a diesel sedan, even quicker and even more fun to drive. BMW assembles select models of the F10 5 Series cars at its assembly plant of Chennai through completely knocked down(CKD) kits.
