Internationally, Skoda gives the Yeti Crossover the Laurin and Klement treatment
Czech car maker Skoda has given the only SUV in its line up, the Yeti, the Laurin and Klement treatment. The 2013 Skoda Yeti Laurin and Klement gets loaded up with luxury, as is the case with every Skoda featuring the L&K badging. Apart from adding a bunch of luxury features, the Yeti L&K edition is now available across a wider range of engines. Skoda, now offers the Yeti L&K with a 1.4 Liter TSI turbo petrol engine. This engine outputs 122 Bhp of peak power and will be the entry level engine variant in the Yeti L&K range. Meanwhile, here’s the full bunch of luxury features and creature comforts on the Yeti L&K.
* Yeti Annapurna 17-inch wide alloy wheels
* Bi-xenon headlamps
* Silver roof rails
* Metallic paint
* genuine and artificial leather upholstery for the interiors
* Dual-zone air conditioning
* Heated windscreen and front seats
* Audio system with 12 speakers
Apart from the addition of the 1.4 TSI turbo petrol engine, the Yeti L&K retains the 1.8 Liter TSI turbo petrol motor and the the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine. While the 1.8 Liter TSI motor pumps out 160 Bhp-250 Nm, the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine is available in a range of tunes: 110 Bhp-250 Nm, 140 Bhp-320 Nm and 170 Bhp-350 Nm. While the 1.4 Liter turbo petrol motor gets a 7 speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox as standard, the bigger 1.8 Liter TSI mill and the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine come with the option of a 6 speed manual gearbox and the 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox. While all wheel drive is standard across all models of the 2013 Yeti L&K variant, the SUV gets safety features like 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, traction control and ESP.
The Yeti is a hot selling model for Skoda globally, with the SUVs compact dimensions and capable on and off road manners making it a top choice amongst buyers looking for a compact SUV. Skoda India does sell the Yeti in the country, with the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine. Given that Skoda India has launched many Laurin & Klement editions of its cars in the past, expect the India-spec Yeti to also get the L&K treatment in the coming months. The Yeti sold in India is assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant through CKD kits imported into the country. Due to its premium pricing, the Yeti has been a tepid seller in India, for the Volkswagen group owned Czech car brand.
