K-Series engined Maruti Alto due next month?

A long while ago, IndianCarsBikes was one of the first auto blogs to bring you the story of the price warrior Maruti Alto all set for a transformation into a budget hot hatch. Two months down the line, if reports on DNA are to be believed, the K-Series Engined Alto will see a launch as early as next month.

If that does happen, India will see a car that goes like stink once you floor the gas pedal while still delivering 20+ Kmpl and costing under INR 3.5 Lakhs on road. The car will come with a redesigned front end as the K-Series engine is significantly wider than the F8D power plant of the current 796cc Maruti Alto. Apart from this very significant change, better quality interiors, will thankfully make it to the K-Series Maruti Alto.

This is pretty significant as the Maruti Alto 800 now feels extremely bare basic. This, especially after Maruti stripped the already bare bone Alto interiors when it launched the BS4 Alto at an ultra competitive price. So, a no compromise budget hatch is what the K-Series engined Maruti Alto will be positioned to be and this could be the definitive car that finally replaces the very sweet and very revvy Maruti Zen.
