Land Rover has jut launched the 2013 Range Rover SUV in India. The Indian launch of the 2013 Range Rover, which is the 4th generation version of this legendary luxury SUV series, comes less than 2 months after the global launch of this hotly awaited SUV. The 2013 Range Rover SUV is an all new model that comes with a whole range of improvements across the board, to make one of the most luxurious, high performance SUV better in every aspect of the trade. In India, Land Rover has launched the 2013 Range Rover luxury SUV in three variants, which come with two engine options. Prices begin at INR 1.72 crores for the base variant, and this pricing has made the Range Rover the priciest SUV in India, breaking into the territory of super luxury cars.
The INR 1.72 crore price tag is for the base SD V8 Vogue variant while the top end SD V8 Autobiography variant is priced at INR 1.79 crores. The petrol engined HSE V8 Autobiography variant is priced at INR 1.84 crores, all prices reflecting ex-showroom Delhi figures. The 2013 Range Rover luxury SUV is imported into India through the completely built unit(CBU) route and will be sold through the 15 Jaguar-Land Rover dealerships across the country. The SUV is available with a turbo diesel engine and a supercharged petrol engine. The 4.4 Liter turbo diesel engine in an 8 cylinder V8 layout puts out 338 Bhp of peak power and 700 Nm of peak torque.
The 5 Liter petrol engine, also in 8 cylinder V8 guise, is supercharged and delivers 510 Bhp of peak power and 625 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission and the Rangie, which gets four wheel drive as standard is available with the latest generation Terrain Response system that Land Rover SUVs are famed for. The diesel powered 2013 Range Rover SUV will be sold in Vogue SE and Autobiography variants while the petrol powered model will be available in the Autobiography trim.
Incidentally, Land Rover also sells the Range Rover SUV with a smaller V6 turbo diesel engine, which it offers with the entry level variant of the SUV in international markets. Keeping with the premium appeal of the Rangie, Land Rover has not offered the smaller turbo diesel engine in India. The 2013 Range Rover SUV comes with an all new aluminium monocoque body that cuts 420 kilograms of weight, improving both performance and fuel economy by a big margin. The diesel model of this SUV will accelerate from standstill to 100 Kph in 7.4 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 240 Kph. The petrol powered model is even faster, with its 0-100 Kph sprint coming in a blazing 5.1 seconds while the top speed remains identical at 240 Kph. The 2013 Range Rover comes fully loaded with safety features and creature comforts, making it the most luxurious SUV money can buy in India and the world.
