Renault facelifted the Fluence sedan last year and the car has just gone on sale in many international markets including Turkey. India is expected to get the facelifted Fluence sedan later this year replacing the current version of the car being sold in the country. The facelifted Fluence gets a brand new front end, replete with a refreshed front grille, daytime running lamps and front bumper. The alloy wheels see a redesigning. The Fluence sedan also gets a refresh on the inside, where the instrumentation console gets a analog-digital unit instead of the all analog cluster on the older model.
The new creature comforts on the facelifted 2013 Fluence sedan include parking sensors for the front and the rear, a touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, an electric parking brake and upgraded upholstery. Internationally, the facelifted Fluence gets a new turbo diesel engine in the form of the 1.6 Liter unit outputting 130 Bhp-320 Nm. The India-spec Fluence though, is expected to make do with the 1.5 Liter K9K turbo diesel engine that outputs 110 Bhp-240 Nm. One major change though could be in the transmission department.
The Fluence sold in India gets a CVT automatic gearbox only on the petrol engined version. The Fluence Diesel has had to make do with the 6 speed manual gearbox. On the facelifted 2013 Fluence, Renault is expected to outfit the diesel engine with a brand new 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. This transmission could be offered on the India-spec Fluence facelift as well given the high demand for such a variant. In markets abroad, the Fluence gets a new 1.6 Liter petrol engine outputting 115 Bhp. This motor serves on the base version of the Fluence in markets abroad and is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox.
In India though, expect the car to retain the 2 Liter petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox, as is the case now. The Renault Fluence sold in India is assembled at the Renault-Nissan joint manufacturing plant at Oragadam, off Chennai. the facelifted model will take the same CKD assembly route with the kits arriving from Turkey. In India, the elegant looking Renault Fluence sedan competes with the likes of the Skoda Laura, the Chevrolet Cruze and the Toyota Corolla Altis.
