Suzuki has launched the Swift Dzire compact sedan in the South American nation of Colombia. The Dzire sold in Colombia is a petrol-only model. The car is exported from India and features the 1.2 liter K-Series naturally aspirated petrol engine good for 86 Bhp-113 Nm. This four cylinder engine is known for its high levels of refinement and fuel economy. In Colombia, the Dzire petrol gets a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. Although the Dzire sold in Colombia is built in India, the Maruti badging is absent on the car, which instead features only Suzuki badges.

In India, Maruti Suzuki offers a 4 speed automatic gearbox on the VXi variant of the petrol engined Dzire. In India, the Dzire can also be specified with the 1.3 Liter Fiat MultiJet turbo diesel engine. The Dzire Diesel corners the majority of sales as Indian car market favours diesel engined cars over petrol engined ones. This skewed petrol-diesel equation has to do with the following reasons: diesel cars are more fuel efficient than petrol cars and the price of diesel is lower than that of petrol. So, car buyers in India have favoured diesel powered cars despite these cars costing more than petrol engined cars by a significant margin.
