Glass breaker: The 2012 Lexus LFA Supercar

Remember Bianca Castafiore? No? The Milanese nightingale in The Adventures of Tintin? She  shares an achievement with the Lexus LFA. And the feat is that like the human voice, the amazing sound of the LFA, shatters glass. Yes, you need to get it upto 174mph and keep it there at a perfect pitch with the revs at around 9000rpm to do so, but it sure sounds more like fun than tweaking an opera singer to croon.

The LFA is a monster brought to you by Lexus. A brand known for Quality, Class and A cut above the rest in terms of Luxury meets convenience. The first time I heard of this was in an alien like characteristic clip on Top Gear and that image has made this one of the most different Supercars for me.

A 4.8-litre V10 producing 553 bhp and 480Nm powers this beast and with a 6-speed ASG transmission, 0-62mph takes only 3.7 seconds and the top speed is 202mph. Lexus will be producing only 500 of these, and all of them have been sold out. Lexus has also confirmed a very small percentage of these will be made into the even more race-specific £400,000 Nurburgring edition.

The car is due to go into production this October and Lexus has announced it plans on producing only 20 units a month and will take two-years to complete. On the day Lexus announced that the LFA is not available to lust for anymore, they also released an advert in which the LFA shatters a neat Champagne glass. Apparently they hired scientists to get the job done. Watch the vid and notice how every little detail in the advert has been made to match the car in characteristics. Its quite something.
