Mahindra lines up the Ssangyong Rexton, Mini Xylo and Reva NXR for 2012 launches!

Mahindra &Mahindra will launch three new products in 2012 and all these products will hit the market latest by the Indian festive season of Dusshera-Diwali2012. The three products that Mahindra will launch in 2012 are the Ssangyong Rexton SUV, the Mini Xylo MPV and the Reva NXR all electric compact city hatchback. All three products have been spotted doing the testing rounds on Indian rounds for quite some time now and 2012 it is when they will finally be launched commercially.

2012 Mahndra Reva NXR All Electric Car at the Auto Expo

The first product to be launched from in this trio will be the Mahindra Reva NXR. The Reva NXR is all electric plug-in city hatchback that has been developed by Reva Electric, a Bangalore based electric car company that Mahindra acquired a while ago. The Reva NXR is an all new, two door model from Mahindra-Reva that will seat four adults and will last 160 kilometers per charge of its lithium ion batter stack. The Reva NXR will have a top speed of 104 Kph.

Mahindra Xylo Mini MPV

The second launch from Mahindra will be the Mini Xylo MPV, which is a shortened version of the popular Mahindra Xylo MPV. This MPV will measure in at under 4 meters in length, hence qualifying for the excise duty reduction that the Indian government doles out to all cars measuring under 4 meters in length. This will allow Mahindra to price the Mini Xylo very competitively. The Mini Xylo will seat 7 and is expected to come with a 1.2 liter, three pot petrol engine a 1.5 Liter, 3 cylinder turbo diesel engine.

Ssangyong Rexton SUV

The Ssangyong Rexton SUV is expected to round off Mahindra’s new product launches for 2012. A product from Mahindra’s South Korean acquisition, the Rexton will be a seven seater and will be positioned above the Mahindra XUV500 crossover, as a product to take on the likes of the facelifted Toyota Fortuner and new 2012 Captiva. The Rexton will be powered with a 2.7 liter common rail turbo diesel engine generating 181 Bhp of peak power and 402 Nm of peak torque. The Rexton SUV is expected to be priced at around INR 20 lakhs.
