Now, you may ask us why the micro hybrid, which was launched way back in 2008, made it again to the 2010 Auto Expo. It did, since Mahindra’s designers outfitted it a with set of new bumpers, a flashy sticker job and an all new refreshed interior spec. The Mahindra Scorpio Hybrid looked very good and butch with it’s interiors deserving high praise for the way they were put together.
For those of you who are in the dark about what the Micro Hybrid moniker really signifies, we’ll explain it for you. The Micro Hybrid system works by shutting off the Scorpio’s engine if it idles for greater than 10 seconds or if it is parked in neutral gear while being stationary for 10 seconds.
Once you want to get going, the engine springs back to life with you depressing the accelerator pedal or shifting to a gear from neutral. This system is claimed to reduce upto 5% of your fuel bills and also emit less pollutants that otherwise would be emitted while the Scorpio idles about in traffic.
