Mahindra Verito Electric sedan the big surprise at the Mahindra Pavilion: 2012 Indian Auto Expo!

Mahindra &Mahindra will show off a range of vehicles at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo but what caught our eye in Mahindra’s media release announcing their expo plans was the inclusion of the Mahindra Verito Electric Sedan concept as one of the show cars. Who would have thought that the Verito, which first began life as the Dacia Logan, to be brought into India by a Mahindra-Renault JV as the Renault Logan, and finally being sold to Mahindra to become the Verito, would be transformed into an electric car? But that is exactly what Mahindra seems to have done and you’ll get a glimpse of just that at the auto expo.

The other electric car that Mahindra will showcase and probably even launch at the auto expo will be the Mahindra Reva NXR, whose launch is eagerly being awaited by prospective electric car buyers. Mahindra, which took over Reva Electric seems to be betting big on electric vehicle technology and this perhaps explains the electric heart for the Verito. Mahindra will also unveil vehicles from its South Korean acquisition, Ssangyong. The Rexton E and the Korando SUVs are all set to see an Indian launch and will be showcased at the exposition. Also, we hope to see a concept vehicle or two.

These vehicles apart, expect Mahindra’s existing line up of cars, two wheelers and Mahindra-Navistar commercial vehicles to be displayed at the auto expo. We have word from our sources that the Mahindra Mini Xylo will get a miss as Mahindra apparently wants to give the mini MPV a separate unveil to keep the buzz around on what promises to be a game changing product alive. We’re wondering whether the Mahindra Mojo premium sports motorcycle will see the light of the day at the expo although we wouldn’t be too surprised to not see it as Mahindra seems to have almost forgotten about the product, after all that initial buzz.
