2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV facelift launch just around the corner!
2012 promises to be the year of the MPV, quite literally. We’ve got four new MPVs up lined for a launch and then, there are the facelifted versions of the existing Indian MPVs. The Mahindra Xylo has been the second largest selling MPVs in India for a long time now, second only to the best selling Toyota Innova MPV. The facelifted Innova was launched at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo even as Mahindra chose to play the cards close to its chest by not revealing any new Mahindra product or facelift at the exposition. However, the facelifted Xylo will be the first Mahindra product that will hit the roads in 2012.
Aimed squarely at the Innova, the facelifted Xylo is a mid career makeover rather than a full product change. So, expect a spruce up all around than any major changes to the engine or chassis department. The engine will still be the tried and tested 2.2 liter mEagle common rail turbo diesel unit. On the looks front though, the front end of the facelifted Xylo will appear more charper than ever before. Restyled headlamps, a redesigned grille and new bumpers are the few noticeable changes in the facelifted Xylo MPV, which is expected to go on sale before the end of this month.
In fact, some Mahindra dealers are already accepting bookings for the new Xylo with a few dealerships even displaying the facelifted model to ensure that the new Xylo doesn’t lose prospective buyers to the Innova. Other changes on the new Xylo could include a few new features on the inside. The seating capacity of 7 passengers will be retained on the new Xylo along with the luxurious captain seats version also being offered. Expect a minor price hike due to the combination of factors like rising input costs and the added cost of the facelifted features on the new Mahindra Xylo MPV.
