Maruti Suzuki begins selling limited edition version of the WagonR called the PRO

Now and then, the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki, keeps putting out limited edition versions of its popular car models to keep the buzz alive. This time around, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is the car that gets the limited edition treatment, in the form of the PRO variant. The changes include both cosmetic changes along with additional accessories being offered on the PRO variant of the WagonR. The price increase for the limited edition variant is expected to be about INR 20,000 more than the regular Wagon R. Meanwhile, here is the complete list of new features and cosmetic bits that the WagonR PRO gets.

As is evident from the image of the Limited Edition WagonR’s features, the last two features are more of dealer accessories than kit available with the Limited Edition model. Even so, all these additional features could do their bit to attract the car buyer as some of these features have decent utility. For instance, the rub rails on the body and bumpers and the USB functionality on the stereo player are bits that will be appreciated by owners.

The rest of the features though are gimmicks as usual, mainly designed to create a buzz than serve any practical purpose for the car buyer. The Maruti WagonR is in its third generation, design wise, in the Indian car market, and in its second generation, in terms of the model. The all new model was launched a year ago, and is available in petrol and petrol-LPG dual fuel variants. The WagonR Duo, which is the dual fuel variant, outsells the petrol model.

The WagonR is a big seller for Maruti Suzuki. First launched to rival the Santro, the WagonR was a slow starter in India. Over the years though, even as the Santro Xing has waned, he WagonR continues to grow from strength to strength and sell well. A tall boy design that makes ingress and egress a breezy affair, a fuel efficient K-Series engine along with the traditional Maruti traits of easy access to spares, reliability and low maintenance costs are the strengths of the WagonR.
