Maruti Suzuki to Bring the Next-Gen Swift Sport to India?!

Country’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. might contemplate bringing in the sportier avatar of its highly popular Swift hatchback in the country.

The Swift Sport has been on sale in the global markets since the first generation of the car came into being almost a decade back. However, Maruti Suzuki didn’t bring it into our market.

Now, given the competition has risen quite significantly, the company could think towards getting the car into the country, where the premium hatchback market has matured enough and the Swift Sport would now be able to stand on its feet more easily.

The next-generation of the Swift is under development and is slated for a launch sometime next year. The car is going to feature very evolutionary design traits and would be a clear successor to the outgoing version of the car in terms of its styling. Its silhouette will be immediately recognizable as that of the cult hatchback that the car has been.

The car is going to feature a flat-bottomed steering wheel, which would definitely entice younger buyers, who form the major chunk of the fan-base of the hatchback.

The next-gen Suzuki Swift would also sport a contemporary instrument cluster, with large popping out pods for the tachometer and the speedometer. There would also be a big digital display at the center, separating the two pods. The display seems similar to the one found on the newly launched Baleno hatchback from the company.

The dashboard looks quite contemporary with a flowing design to it. The next-gen Suzuki Swift might also get the company’s mild-hybrid technology, in the form of the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System or SHVS.

Suzuki has also put circular central air conditioning vents at the center of the dashboard, which give a retro-touch to the cabin and looks elegant. The car will go on sale in 2017 in the global markets. The Swift Sport will additionally feature a revamped suspension setup, a 1.4-litre BoosterJet petrol motor and other design elements like side skirts, spoiler, larger wheels and twin tail pipes.
