Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV and Compact SUV concept could be the automaker’s most interesting products to be showcased at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo!
Maruti RIII MPV Concept
Maruti Suzuki will unveil the Ertiga MPV, which first took life 2 years ago as the RIII MPV concept, at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. The Ertiga MPV has been spotted testing a few times in the past few months and from what we’ve seen of the Maruti MPV, it will be a seven seat version but one that is significantly smaller than the likes of the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo. Likewise, expect the Eritga MPV to be priced much below the Innova and the Xylo.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV will feature petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine will be the 1.4 Liter K-series engine producing 95 Bhp-130 Nm while the diesel engine will be the 1.3 Liter Fiat multijet diesel engine albeit with a variable geometry turbo, a-la-Maruti SX4. The addition of the variable geometry turbocharger means that the Ertiga will produce 90 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
Maruti RIII MPV Concept
The other big splash Maruti Suzuki will hope to make at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo is with the compact SUV concept that the automaker is planning to unveil at the exposition. Like the Ertiga MPV, this compact SUV could take another 2 years to turn from concept to production reality. Barring the Gypsy, Maruti Suzuki doesn’t have any SUV under 10 Lakh rupees in the Indian market currently.
With the compact SUV space to grow tremendously in the coming years, Maruti Suzuki’s entry into this segment could be a defining moment in the future of compact SUVs in India. The Maruti compact SUV will be developed in India with the assistance of Suzuki engineers from Japan. Mahindra is the other Indian automaker which is developing a sub 4 Lakhrupee compact SUV for the Indian Watch this space!

Maruti SUV , now that makes some news…they should have done this long back though, has they have the resources. Looking forward for the unveiling, hope the concept turns reality faster…
Suzuki Maruti should bring in their Jimny into the Indian market to compete in the Compact Utility Vehicle category with a sub 5 lakhs pricing.
