Yesterday, we reported about Maruti Suzuki mulling a monthly two day production cut at Gurgaon to reduce petrol car inventory levels and align itself with the current demand. The slowdown isn’t just affecting petrol cars but has also hit diesel car sales. India’s second best selling car, the Swift hatchback, has also been hit by the sales slowdown. Maruti is now offering instant delivery on the Swift Diesel. This offer comes with a caveat. The instant delivery for the Swift Diesel is applicable on a first-come-first-serve basis. So, a select number of diesel powered Swift cars at each dealership will be made available under this scheme.
The instant delivery offer is already on and will go on until the 17th of March 2013. So, if you’re in the market for a Maruti Swift Diesel, you’ll have to hurry to your nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer to take advantage of the instant delivery offer. Notably, apart from instant delivery on a limited number of cars, no discounts are currently being offered on the Swift Diesel. The petrol variants of the Swift do come with discounts and these discounts vary from dealer to dealer. Maruti Suzuki, for its part, is offering discounts on petrol and diesel engined version of its other B+ segment hatchback, the Ritz.
The Ritz Diesel is now being offered with a discount of up to 45,000 rupees while the petrol versions of the Ritz come with a discount of 25,000 rupees. Notably, it is barely a few months after the facelifted Ritz was launched in India and the car is already being sold at a discount. This highlights the severity of the sales slowdown in the Indian car industry. Deal hunters can negotiate chunky discounts across most cars in India, except say for hot sellers like the Renault Duster SUV and the diesel variants of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.
