Right at the outset of the Indian festive season, Maruti Suzuki has given the petrol engined Ritz the facelift treatment and the petrol engined Ritz now gets all the features of the diesel engined model, albeit with a slight price increase. The Ritz petrol is available in LXi, VXi and ZXi models and is priced about 6 to 8 thousand rupees more than the older model, which is a a very modest price bump up, stuff that will go down well with prospective car buyers. The Ritz petrol retains the 1.2 Liter, 4 cylinder K-Series petrol engine that is good for 80 Bhp-112 Nm.
This engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and contrary to expectations, Maruti Suzuki hasn’t yet launched an automatic version of the Ritz in India. The launch of the Ritz Automatic, is however expected to happen in the next few months as plans do exist for this variant, for India. The Ritz Automatic, equipped with a 4 speed automatic gearbox, is exported to the European market from India, where it sells as the Suzuki Splash. Coming back to the facelifted Ritz petrol, the car gets a refreshed front end with a more aggressive grille profile, reprofiled bumper and fog lamp housing, side claddings a roof mounted spoiler on the top end variant.
The rest of the car on the outside remains pretty much unchanged and this includes the profile of the car. Maruti has added three new colors to the Ritz range. On the inside, Maruti Suzuki has given the facelifted Ritz red dual tone interiors while the rear seats gets rebolstered for lumbar support. Additionally, the top end variant of the Ritz gets electrically operated wing mirrors, alloy wheels, Bluetooth and USB functions for the Audio and steering mounted audio controls. So, this is pretty much what’s new on the facelifted Ritz petrol.
The facelifted model of the Ritz Petrol is priced at INR 4.43 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi for the LXi variant. The car comes with a tall boy design that makes ingress and egress a breezy affair. This is a reason why the Ritz appeals to senior citizens and taller people. The impending automatic variant of the Ritz, which is expected to be launched in the coming months will only make it a more interesting choice when it comes to sheer convenience that it offers. Bookings for the facelifted Ritz petrol is now open at Maruti Suzuki dealerships across the nation.
