McLaren starts testing Bugatti rivaling “Mega Mac” hypercar

The crown of the greatest hypercar of all time rests on the head of the Bugatti Veyron as of now. But, this could change in the a couple years time when McLaren launches their next generation ballistic missile to replace the old McLaren F1. The successor to the iconic F1 which set the record to become the fastest production car the world had ever seen will be equally mental. In fact, the new hypercar is expected to be even faster than the current king of speed, the Bugatti Veyron SS.
McLaren plans to produce just 500 examples of their next generation hypercar and could boast a price tag of a million pounds sterling. 1 Million GBP! Now that’s properly hypercar-ish. According to reports, the F1 successor will be powered by a 5.0 litre V8 engine producing close to 800 horsepower and 600 torques. All this punch is transferred via a dual-clutch gearbox with seven ratios. The power goes to the rear wheels unlike the Veyron which employs an all-wheel drive setup.

Nought to 100 times are expected to be in the Veyron territory as well. 100 kph will come up in 2.8 seconds just 0.3 sec shy of the pace set by the Bugatti. The Veyron does the same dash in 2.5 sec. Now, McLaren know-how with carbon fibre will help immensely in the making of the new hypercar. The new car will employ a carbon fibre monocell construction found on the MP4-12C supercar. Add to that, race derived push-rod susupension will help keep all the four wheels planted to the tarmac.
A five-stage traction control system will aid the drivers harness the 800 rampaging horses while fade-free ceramic brakes will help anchor the beast. Now, most drivers would love a bare-minimum mechanical car without any electronic aids spoiling the driving experience. For those who love an involving drive, there will be an option to turn all the electronic gubbins off. That said, the McLaren F1 had the driver’s seat in the middle flanked by two passenger seats. We hope the car maker keeps the same seating layout on the new Mega Mac as well.
