Mercedes Benz will junk it’s obsession with rear wheel driven cars and will start making front wheel driven cars too. What this will translate to you and me is that Mercedes Benz cars will now become cheaper and more fuel efficient, good things aren’t they?
Also, the new MFA platform is expected to give Mercedes Benz a bunch of options, especially in terms of configurations and wheelbases, thus opening up possibilities that hitherto would have been difficult to achieve with only the rear wheel drive design. Here’s what Dr Bharat Balasubramanian, vice-president, Group & Advanced Engineering, Daimler AG had to say about Mercedes Benz’s brand new MFA platform.
MFA will usher in a new era of affordable Mercs. Models spun from MFA would be more suitable for India.
By 2013, Mercedes Benz hopes to develop and launch a Mercedes Benz Crossover SUV that could take on the BMW X1, in terms of space, power, features and also pricing. So, gear up for Mercedes Benz cars that may sell at much affordable prices.
