Mini India Facebook page up as car maker prepares to enter Indian market in 2012

Minis will soon roam the streets of India. BMW who own the Mini brand have been thinking of introducing the brand in the subcontinent for a while now and finally a dream projects of Dr. Andreas Schaaf will soon bear fruit. Next year, BMW will launch the Mini in to this country. The iconic Mini has evolved in to a big brand consisting of various models ranging from the base Mini One to a coupe and even a crossover. Minis have always been special much like the Volkswagen Beetle and the Fiat 500.
BMW India has already launched a standalone community page for Mini enthusiasts of India. The Mini India Facebook page is up and has already become popular with the masses. There are more than 7000 fans connected to the page which shows the popularity of the brand. That said, ironically, Minis in India won’t come cheap. The base variant of the Mini is expected to cost around Rs 25 lakh which is a lot for a car with two doors and four seats. BMW India is also expected to bring the full range to India. The car will arrive on Indian shores as CBUs (Completely Built Units) and hence the higher price tag.

The hotter Cooper version are also expected to enter the segment. Along with the standard Mini One, the Mini Countryman might also arrive also in four -wheel drive guise. The 4×4 lot might be priced around the top-of-the-line BMW X1. Earlier it was thought that BMW might be shipping the 1-Series over to India however its the Mini that will drive in first. Meanwhile, there is a huge fan base for the Mini and enthusiasts might just ignore the hefty price tag for the gorgeous little hatchback.
