At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show Mitsubishi Motors showcased it’s latest concept yet, the “Global Small” small car concept. This car, which will see an Indian launch in 2012, is expected to spearhead Mitsubishi’s foray into emerging markets and also will form the main component of Mitsubishi’s Indian sales plan. Coming to the car in itself, while the Global Small concept does have plenty of resemblances to the Lancers and the Outlanders of thus world with the pointed shark snout and the large grille up front, the car looks pretty tame compared to the more aggressive render Mitsubishi had released earlier.

That, actually is good news as the little Mitsubishi will find more takers for it’s milder production design. Engine options include two petrol versions displacing 1 and 1.2 liter three potters. Along with the petrol engines, Mitsubishi could also shoehorn an electric motor and make an electric version of the Global Small in the future. Along with this, the car is expected to come with fuel conserving measures like the start-stop system and a brake energy regenerative system. We expect the car to be priced somewhere in the range of the Maruti A-Star when it reaches India in 2012, where it will be manufactured at Mitsubishi’s Chennai facility.
