Money Matters: Fiats get dearer; Could this trigger off another round of price hikes?

We saw it coming long ago and expected yet another price hike on the back of rising input costs. Here is it, out in the open despite some automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai coming out in the open and announcing that they had no plans of price hikes in the near future. Fiat India has been the first Indian car manufacturer to bite the bullet and here we have it, both the Fiat Linea and the Fiat Grande Punto will be dearer from INR 6,000 to INR 9,000. This is Fiat India’s second price hike in less than six months and this certainly won’t help matters as the Linea and the Grande Punto aren’t exactly setting the hustings on fire.
