Another Nano burns; Cause Unknown!

2011 Tata Nano

2011 Tata Nano

Vipul Jani had bought the Nano 10 months ago, on May 1st, 2010. Today, when he was on his way home in Ahmedabad’s Shivranjani Crossroads, his Nano caught fire. With that, the fiery saga of Nanos catching fire has reared it’s ugly head once again. Here’s what Vipul Jani had to say about his Nano going up in flames.

The incident took place near Shivranjani Crossroads when a Tata Nano belonging to Vipul Jani caught fire while he was driving home. My car caught fire all of a sudden near the Shivranjani crossing, while I was on my way home. A police complaint has been registered in this regard. The rear portion of the car, where the engine is located caught fire. I had purchased the car on May 1 last year.

Like it can be seen, the reason for the fire remains unknown at the moment. Tata Motors Limited, after conducting an investigation on the Nano fires had declared the Nano to be safe and as a precautionary measure, installed safety fittings to the Nanos already on the road. It remains unclear whether Vipul’s Nano was also retrofitted with the safety equipment.

Just as the sales of Nano was picking up,one more Nano starts burning.I feel this is the end of the road for Nano. Only yesterday I was telling to my daughter to buy a Nano, since it is cheap and can be easily driven around the chaotic traffic of Chennai, but after todays incident, I will never even look at the car.
