News about the all new Maruti Suzuki WagonR’s impending launch is being plastered all across the Indian blogosphere. We told you that the all new WagonR will see an April 2010 launch eons ago and here’s the word, directly from the horses’s mouth. Here are a few bytes that we managed to snag from Mayank Pareekh, Executive Officer in charge of Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited,

It’s not a minor change and everything is new in this model. Usually, the company spends around Rs. 40-50 crore on refurbishing any existing model for it to be launched in a new avatar. But in the new WagonR, MSIL had spent more than Rs. 290 crore besides the investment from vendors. A lot of investments have gone into the development of the product to make it an optimal choice for the Indian consumer.

The all new Maruti WagonR will cost a little over the outgoing model’s INR 3.33-4.50 Lakh price range.

As of now, Maruti Suzuki has no plans of an LPG version of the all new WagonR while the launch of the same cannot be ruled out sometime in the future.

This would surely be a great car given my 5+ year experience with the Gen1 wagon R. However its sure to eat in to Maruti’s own Astar and Ritz share while providing great competition to i10.
