Polo Sedan to be called Volkswagen Vento, Launch in June-July

The folks at Autocar India have managed to snap up a few remarkable pics. We’re talking about the Sedan based on the Volkswagen Polo. Volkswagen India plan to use the name Vento on the Sedan version of the Polo and have a couple of juicy engines in store to spice things up quite a bit.

On first glance, the Vento looks smart, especially considering that it is a sedan version of a hatchback.

Moving from the understated yet classy teutonic looks to the engine bay, prospective buyers will be enthused to know that Volkswagen India is planning both a petrol and diesel engines. Both the petrol and diesel engines will displace 1.6 liters with power outputs too identical at 105 Bhp each.

The diesel however manages to trump the petrol in the max twist stakes with a massive 25.5 Kgm compared to 15.8 Kgm of the petrol. Petroholics, meanwhile, needn’t despair as the petrol mill is a 16 valver DOHC that promises to scream to the redline.

These figures obviously give the diesel an immediate edge over the petrol and we can’t help but liken the Volkswagen Vento to the Hyundai Verna, whose diesel engines outperforms it’s petrol version by quite a bit.

Going by the terrific pricing of the Volkswagen Polo, we anticipate a cost of INR 7-9 Lakhs for the Volkswagen Vento when it hits Indian streets sometime in June-July 2010.

can u confirm me the launch date from the VW team.. also what would be the distance between drivers seat and backside seat.. this is very narrow in VW Polo hatchback..

I am interested in Vento Diesel..

Madhu,

The VW Vento in all probability will have a 50mm longer wheelbase. So, the leg room for the rear passengers will go up. Rest assured.

This car in sedan segment seems to be a hit with aggressive pricing , style and the power of the car as compared to the competitors.

I am waiting for the launch of VW Diesel version. I have only one shortlist till now (Linea Emotion Pk).

However, After all the talks going around, i am anticipating for the launch.

The Vento will have 1.6 Litre engines for both Petrol And Diesel. Price expected is 7 Lakh for base models and 9 Lakh for Top models.

You might be able to fit an aftermarket unit like Webasto but we recommend against it as many a time, after market sun roofs are prone to leaks if not installed perfectly.
