New Skoda Yeti Crossover SUV India: Thumbs up Thumbs down
Skoda Yeti SUV Car Rear
The Skoda Yeti Crossover SUV has been going around Indian cities in a bid to ensure visibility and raise Skoda’s brand consciousness amongst the Indian car buying populace. Thumbs up to that. During this road show, plenty of prospective seem to have enquired about the Skoda Yeti’s pricing. The answer to this vital question was what spawned the thumbs down in the header.
According to a leading Skoda dealer in New Delhi, the Skoda Yeti Crossover prices will begin from INR 17 Lakhs and we’re talking ex-showroom prices here

This, in our opinion, obviously won’t go down well with prospective buyers as the Yeti, if thus priced will be bang in Toyota Fortuner territory. Need we even talk about what will happen next? Skoda India has majorly botched up it’s after sales service, which is one huge factor, that is scaring prospective buyers from buying Skodas.
Despite the shoddy after sales support, Skoda India has managed to post some impressive sales growth figures, which can primarily be attributed to the high quality of Skoda cars and partly due to the terrific pricing that Skoda India has managed to price it cars at.

But, with the Yeti, we don’t see that happening, especially with the initial news of the high pricing filtering out. What we have also gathered is the fact that the Skoda Yeti will share the 2 Liter common rail diesel engine that will pump out 140 Bhp, with the Laura. This is a wise move by Skoda but the pricing is something that could prove to be the spanner in the works.
The Skoda Yeti Crossover is anticipated to hit Indian streets sometime after August, 2010.

I hope Skoda wont do the same mistake with Yeti, what it did in case of fabia,overpricing..
Car looks good no doubt, but pricing is in the territory of other SUV`s only..I feel it should be priced somewhere around 11-12 lakhs, else it is bound to fail just like fabia.
As Skoda has its plant in India, most of the spares, assembling will be from here, hence it should attract less takes hence, less cost.
17 L is a hopeless price. One thing that I cannot understand is that when the base models in UK are available from 10 L onwards, what makes the car so expensive in India.
Think that at this price, Yeti will be a flop show.
Gonna be a flop just cause of the over price… Should be between 12-15 max diesel engine..
Seen the car, small for that price…
The guys at the showroom repeatedly told me that this price of 17-1 8 is tentative price, they expect it to be 15 or so. I feel 13 -14 should be the max for 4212 mm long car, what say ?
Well said Gagandeep,it would be just bigger than Fabia,I heard it from friends in UK..they also feel it expensive. It should be definitely 12-14 lakhs max. They gave lot of luxury features, hence its pricey.
Even Benz and BMW are releasing some cars between 23-27 lakhs by removing unwanted features for Indian roads and customers, which earlier were priced around 33-37 lakhs understanding requirements.
Skoda yeti will just be another flop SUV just like outlander and Tuscon,if it doesn`t price it properly.Skoda don`t overexpect about Yeti. However,I still feel 15 lakhs on road price for a box(yeti-shape) and a five seater, nooooooo its hopeless.
i was one of prospective buyer as i hared the news of 17 L i have to think fartuner rather yati
i was expected around 14 L on road
later if they give discount also we will not buy
good luck to yati
YOU’RE RIGHT MOHAN, BETTER GET RID OF UNNECESSARY FEATURES IN THE CAR AND PRICE IT GOOD, ELSE A FLOP SHOW!!
I too agree with above comments. 17L is not worth for a small SUV like Yeti. People will go for more powerful ones like Fortuner, Endeavour etc with same or little different prices.
Yeti will not catch up the Indian market unless they offer a realistic price of 12-14L maximum on road for diesel.
3 friends were wtng for the Yeti,bt after a shocking price tag of 17L they jst lost 3 customers.they have to get lower base models for city driving and if the car is between 12-14 on road, they wont be able to meet its demand.this is practical advice to CEO skoda…..
If for 17 lac, its too high. The Mancho Fortuner
is much better, in looks and hight. Yeti looks
like a maruti = Wagon R
The guys at the showroom repeatedly told me that this price of 17-1 8 is tentative price, they expect it to be 15 or so. I feel 13 -14 or 15 L should be the max for 4212 mm long car, Please do the best for me
worth buying if the price is arround 12 L. anything above it will be sold in small numbers.
please send me the model/engine classification of yeti
not worth 17L , should be around 10 to 12Lcs . lets hope for the best.
The maximum i expect is 13 – 14 lcs. With dsg gear box and bluetooth it can go upto 15.After that it will be the younger brother of fabia.
Total waste – doesnt deserve more than 12L ex-showroom
well i am drivin skoda for last 5 years and was waitin for yeti but at 17 i preferd to go in for endy..n must say i dnt regret my decision.i bel.ive it is a marketin gimmic by skoda to see if they can sell the yeti at a higher price.in my opinion base model shd nt be above 8.
Let me know when ALL NEW YETI is going to launch in India?
I do not like the body of the yeti it just doesn’t strike me as a car i would buy and use every day the Superb is Still my favorite Skoda.
hi.
wl inrested to purchse
knldy send us capicity n mileage details
17 LACS………….SURE TO FAIL, FOR A SMALL SIZE SUV WOULD NOT BE VALUE FOR MONEY.13 TO 14 PRICE WOULD BE QUITE ATTRACTIVE ,i.e BETWEEN INNOVA AND FORTUNNER.
17Lac is too much for this Car…. Anything in the range of 12-14 lacs should be good price…. I have plans to own one… If Skoda are planning for higher price then its big disappointment to me and many Skoda fans….
i already booked the yeti but if prices will be 18 then i will not buy i will bye only upto 14l
Iam already booked the yeti butif the price will 18 lacs then i have to think. iwant know about the milege and comfort also
car is beutiful but i am disappointed by the amount of hari patti ask for it
we are planning to buy a suv for our companies Director,we have seen Nissan X-Trail, toyota Furtuner, Ford Endaever ,Pajero,Outlander, now your YETI has come we want to know about it more
without looking yeti on road its not possible to comments but 15L and 12-13 mileage (over all) for a small suv…………….ok will wait at least 5-6 months to by it……..still buying verna or carolla altis……..by yeti & fortuner for waitting ?
byeeeeeeeee ?:-)
hi for 1.2l engine 17 lacs is too much if they price it around 12lacs it will be a hit. because its realy good cross over skoda should think over pricing again
Obviously, the marketing men think a vast majority India constitutes of politicians and government bosses to set such an exhorbitant rate for puny yeti. Any price above eight lakhs is a ripoff.
