2014 promises to be a big year for Japanese car maker Honda, with no less than three new car models making their respective debuts in markets across the world. While two of the three new car launches in 2014 are next generation models of cars that Honda currently sells, the car maker will make an entry into the compact SUV segment with a brand new product. All three of the new cars that Honda will launch in 2014 will be based on the Jazz/Fit platform. Also, these cars are expected to be built on a platform with the flexibility of allowing the use of Honda’s brand new 1.5 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine. Meanwhile, here’s a brief overview of the three new cars that Honda will launch in 2014.
2015 Honda Jazz/Fit Hatchback:
The 2015 Honda Jazz will see a launch in early 2014 and will be all new model based on a new platform. The Jazz is expected to be sold with both petrol and diesel power under the hood. India will be quite excited about the new 2015 Jazz as Honda will finally unleash diesel power on the new Jazz, through the 1.5 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine. The Jazz is expected to get a big makeover in terms of its looks on the outside even as Honda is expected to take the man-maximum-machine-minimum design philosophy to the next level in the Jazz’s interiors.
2015 Honda City Sedan:
The Honda City Sedan, a car mainly sold in South East Asia and India, is a sedan version spawned out of the Jazz platform. Along with the new 2015 Jazz, the City sedan will also shift to the new Jazz platform. Like the Jazz, the car will get both petrol and turbo diesel engine options, with the latter engine being primed up for the Indian car market, where the lack of a diesel variant has cost the City dearly. Like the 2015 Jazz, expect the 2015 City sedan to see a host of changes on the outside and inside. The car though, is expected to remain operating in the B-segment sedan space(C-Segment in India).
2015 Honda Jazz based Compact SUV:
One of the most hotly anticipated new Hondas is the Jazz based compact SUV. Honda just showed off the direction this compact SUV’s design will take, through the Urban SUV Concept unveiled at Detroit. The Honda Compact SUV will take on the likes of the Nissan Juke and the Ford EcoSport in global markets. Expect the Honda compact SUV to eventually be sold in India as well, given the high demand for compact SUVs in this part of the world. Both petrol and turbo diesel power are expected to be offered on Honda’s latest SUV.
