Nissan India’s immediate plans include the Nissan Sunny Sedan and the Nissan NV200 MPV
2011 Nissan Sunny Sedan
On the back of the launch of the Nissan Micra Diesel Hatchback, refreshingly, the usually reticent folks at Nissan India were more than forthcoming when quizzed on their plans for the Indian car market. The Nissan Sunny Sedan, which has already been unveiled at China is one product that will keep Nissan India busy in the near future. This sedan, built on the V platform, which it will share with the Nissan Micra Hatchback, is expected to take on the best selling Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Tata Indigo CS. Now, that is some really established competition Nissan India is planning to take head on. So a killer price tag with plenty of features and a beefed up service network would be the bare minimum that Nissan India needs on an urgent basis to make any dent whatsoever on the sales in the entry level sedan market.

Nissan NV200 MPV
Coming to the next big story, the Nissan NV200, has time and again, been caught doing testing rounds in and around Chennai an Hosur, the Industrial town where truck maker Ashok Leyland has a manufacturing facility in. Early this year, we brought you news about the NV200 MPV being produced by Ashok Leyland in collaboration with Nissan and the possibility of this people mover being a challenger to the Toyota Innova. Nissan India has confirmed this development and sometime in 2011, the Nissan NV200 MPV will indeed see an Indian launch to stir up some dust in the MPV segment, which hasn’t seen any new launch for quite while now. So there, the Nissan Sunny Sedan and the Nissan NV200 MPV are the cars slated for 2011 launches from Nissan India’s stables.
