The Mini SUV market is all set to take off in India with manufacturers like Mahindra and Nissan all set to venture into this largely uncharted car territory. While we did a gig on the Nissan Juke Crossover Concept a while ago, the scene was pretty sketchy about a possible Indian launch. The overt radicality of the Juke’s design was another reason why we thought that the Juke may not head towards Indian shores anytime too soon. We were wrong.

Nissan India is really turning on the heat and the latest buzz in the Indian Auto blogosphere is the launch of the Juke Crossover sometime in late 2011. The 5 seater Nissan Juke will be made in Nissan India’s Chennai plant and is expected to be lose some of it’s radicality to appeal to conservative Indian car buying populace. In our opinion that is a pretty good thing as overt radicality usually doesn’t go well with the Indian car buyers.

As the Juke is based on the Nissan V platform just like the Micra is, this is yet another reason why the Juke’s launch is a strong possibility in late 2011. Both petrol and diesel options of the Juke are likely to be offered at a price range of about INR 6-8 Lakh.
