Nissan Micra to be launched in May, 2010 at a base price of INR 4 Lakhs

Nissan India, along with Ford was conspicuous by it’s absence at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo. But, Nissan’s small car plans are well on course. The Nissan Micra will be launched sometime during May of 2010.
We have learnt from reliable sources that the Nissan Micra will be launched with a 3 cylinder, 1.2 Liter petrol engine and a 1.5 Liter common rail diesel engine.
Both the petrol and the diesel engines will feature five speed manual transmissions and are expected to be extremely frugal with both the engines touted to deliver almost 26 Kmpl.
While, we’ll wait for the real world fuel efficiency figures, let’s come to how well the Nissan Micra can perform on the streets. While the Nissan Micra seems to be frugal, that doesn’t mean that it will be a slouch when it comes to the performance department. We expect a healthy acceleration with a nought to hundred coming in at 15 seconds for the petrol and a top speed of about 150 Kph.
The CRDI diesel Micra will be a scorcher with it’s 80 Bhp and 185 Nm powering it to a 0-100 timing of 13 seconds and a top speed of almost 160 Kph. That kind of scintillating performance and economy is sure to give the Nissan Micra a decent head start in the ultra competitive Indian small car market.

Clear winner if it indeed will give 26 to the litre.
However the tail light is ugly as hell.
Is it worth for 4lakhs+. How about the interior?
I think the author copied 26 kmpl from Volkswagon POl) concept car with bluemotion technology (will not available anywhere in the world now, they may launch it in 2011, it is not the polo being launched in india)
The 26kmpl needs to be removed from the article.
Also if Nissan names it Micra india, it will do real bad for that company.
The reason is people may start calling it Micro and this car may get treated as another smallest car from tata(you know which car it is already, ain’t it)
This will result in this car getting tagged as cheap-quality car.
It would be better if NISSAN names it as “March” in India too

I am really impressed and micra is what it is this write up and price is around 4 lacs than definitly it will rule the small car market of India, It will beat all other makes Maruti, Cheverolet, Ford, Walkswagon, Fiat etc. I am eagerly awaiting arrival of Micra.

Wrong pictures uploaded. Actual Indian variant differs from the ones shown above and looks much better than this one. Fuel Efficiency mentioned here is another error. I’ve heard it gives around 14 KMPL. It should be at least 16-17 KMPL if NISSAN wants success.

And it will be displayed from May 26, 2010 at all Nissan Showrooms across the country.

Nissan India is planning to add 80 more dealers to it’s existing network by the end of 2010. So, I’d advise you to wait till a Nissan Authorised Service Center is set up in Vizag before you go ahead and buy the Micra.

the model is classy,but the stearing is appeared in left side like western style,both petrol and diesel gives same effeciency.my comment is to change the stearing acoording to the indan style.

The micra looks like a Dingy. Its the most disproportionately shaped in India. And yes the back looks really depressing. The designers must have been looking elswhere while on the drawing board. I may not use this car even if somebody offered it free. Shameful indeed.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. In the interest of fairness, I’d say, the Micra stands out in the already flooded Indian hatchback market. Its overall shape isn’t pleasing to most though. I would also like to laud the designers as they’ve managed to atleast improve on the previous design.
