Peugeot may bet big on India with Andhra Pradesh in the forefront for a Peugeot plant

According to Bloomberg, Peugeot Citroen PSA is said to be mulling an Indian entry with Andhra Pradesh being at the forefront of the new Peugeot India plant if ever the plan materializes. According to sources in the know, the French automaker is said to be readying up a war chest of a whopping 4161 Crores for it’s Indian foray. That is a lot of money and with that kinds of money Peugeot looks like it wants to be the game changer in India rather than the also ran it was in the past when it had a unsuccessful liaison with Premier Automobiles Limited. While one cannot fault Peugeot, for the car maker brought a very good car in the form of the Peugeot 309 GLD, it’s collaboration with the inefficient PAL saw the car bomb miserably at the hustings.

Peugeot will be very wary this time around and hence, we can expect a much better second attempt from the French automaker as it mulls an Indian foray in the near future. Coming to Andhra Pradesh, the state has always attracted big car makers to its fold only to disappoint as the car makers dumped to to set shop elsewhere for various reasons. The most recent example is that of Volkswagen India, who after allegations of corruption, set shop in Chakan, Maharashtra ignoring Andhra Pradesh, which was initially supposed to be the place when VW India was to set shop. Let’s hope that Peugeot does drive into India and this time around, turn it’s latest India foray into a resounding success.
